The Zonta Riverside Club had their first, Join Me for a Cup of Coffee or Tea, on March 8 at the Casa Blanca Library for IWD.
On March 8, International Women’s Day, the Zonta Club of Riverside joined the global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
The Zonta community also marks March 8 as Zonta Rose Day, a time to reflect on past achievements and honor the current efforts of individuals working toward gender equity. President Debbie Waltzer told the story of the Yellow Rose and as she installed one new member; Carrie Madrid and they also got to hear Her story.
At the age of 40 she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer while she was a divorced mother of three which led her to start this amazing nonprofit, The Care Project.
She told her story how she became the woman she is today, which made her extremely strong and dedicated in helping others, so they don’t have to fear going through what she went through. It was truly emotional with a wonderful ending, and I am so glad that I got to hear her story. She is truly an amazing woman. She really is helping to build a better would for women and girls.
The club offered delicious treats such as macarons and scones donated by Isabella’s cupcakes and more.
Join the Zonta Club of Riverside today at RiversideZonta@gmail.com and join them at their next event on April 19th at 1pm on Zoom then on May 30th at the SSgt Salvador J. Lara Casa Blanca Library from 2-4pm.
See you there! Can’t wait to meet you…I will be there! Email them for a link if you haven’t been invited yet!
