16 Days of Activism 2025: UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls
From 25 November—the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women—through 10 December, Human Rights Day, the world observes the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. In 2025, the campaign focuses on a growing and urgent issue: digital violence. Under the theme “UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls”, the movement calls attention to harassment, abuse, and exploitation that occur online and through technology.
Digital spaces, while offering opportunities for connection and empowerment, have also become arenas for threats, stalking, non-consensual image sharing, and hate speech. These harms can have severe psychological, social, and even physical consequences, disproportionately affecting women and girls.
The 2025 campaign urges governments, tech companies, civil society, and individuals to take concrete action—strengthening laws, improving reporting mechanisms, promoting digital literacy, and fostering safe online environments.
By uniting voices across countries and sectors, the 16 Days of Activism reminds us that ending gender-based violence—offline and online—is not optional; it is a human rights imperative. Together, we can build a digital world where women and girls are safe, respected, and free to thrive.
